Focus Writer is a Chrome extension designed to help students stay focused while writing essays in Google Docs. It tracks writing activity and gently prompts the user if they slow down, pause, or get distracted, offering encouragement or reminders to get back on task. If inactivity continues, it sends a notification or a text to nudge the user back into focus.

The project was inspired by the challenge of procrastination in academic settings and explores how digital tools can support better writing habits. The interface is minimal and friendly, blending productivity with a touch of humor to reduce pressure while increasing accountability.

This project involved front-end coding using Cursor and ChatGPT-assisted logic structuring. I developed and tested the extension using Chrome’s developer tools and plan to publish it on the Chrome Web Store in the future.
